3 Ways To Make Money in College

The status quo is stupid.

I think most people share my sentiments, but are often so paralyzed by fear that they just go along with this stupid norm. One of the most debilitating beliefs I’ve seen, particularly in the world of college life, is that

“I’m broke and will be broke for the next 4–5 plus years.”

Students scream this every time they run to find a job they hate, settle for 5 years of unhealthy food, and pass up opportunities of a lifetime because they cost more than a Chipotle Burrito bowl.

The truth is you don’t have to be a broke college student if you don’t want to.

Here’s How:

"as a man thinketh so is he” Beliefs lead to actions. Actions to habits and habits tell you and the world who you are. Start thinking differently about your money. You don’t have to settle for a constant state of financial embarrassment. What would happen if you started believing that you could graduate debt free or get your money right this semester?

I’ve accomplished so much more with my crazy talented group of friends than I have by myself. Gritty people laugh at risk and love putting in the work necessary to succeed at bringing great ideas to life. These people inspire, challenge, and teach you how to win in business and get your money right. Find these people and intentionally connect with, serve, and build with them.

At Student Dream we emphasize that the best way to make more money is to start a business NOT get another job. Jeff Bezos, Founder of Amazon made $6 billion in just 20 minutes last April. The point is that there’s a limit to the amount of money you can earn from wages alone. However for business owners, your hourly income can grow and grow and grow without you explicitly lifting a finger.

This is why Student Dream focuses on helping bold students of color start companies. We believe that you don’t have to be a broke college student, so we created programs like Groundwork to help you change your mindset, find a gritty community, and start a business. If that’s something you want to do apply today to our fall Groundwork program. Because normal is stupid.
